In just a few weeks, on October 15, the much-anticipated opening of LEGOLAND Florida finally arrives. The theme park is located in Winter Haven, Florida, about 25 miles south of Champion's Gate (just over half an hour's drive on Hwy 27). The 150-acre theme park promises more than 50 rides, shows and attractions, as well as an opportunity to shop at unique stores that include one of the largest LEGO retail stores in the world. Themed "zones" include Fun Town, medieval-themed Castle Hill, Land of Adventure, DUPLO Village for the toddlers, Miniland USA (described by the LEGO folks as being the "heart of every LEGOLAND Park," this Miniland USA has a LEGO scale-model of the state of Florida).
