Florida Spirit Goes GREEN

Florida Spirit Vacation Homes, our vacation home property owners and guests are teaming up to make our vacation homes more environmentally friend by taking some simple but important green initiatives. We are the first vacation home company in Orlando to work collectively with property owners and guests to make our rental properties more “green” by taking action.

Since August 2007, Florida Spirit Vacation Homes has chosen to offset 100% of the electrical power used by the management offices with renewable energy credits. Florida Spirit is turning down hot water heaters when vacation homes are not in use; upgrading pool lights to timers; placing solar pool blankets on pools during the winter months and ensuring trash is recycled. Florida Spirit has also started to install energy saving systems in the homes that turn off the air conditioning systems when doors are left open for too long. We are working with local power companies to monitor power usage and implementing energy efficiency recommendations from them.

We at Florida Spirit understand that as a small family owned business we still have a commitment to clean and renewable energy. We cherish the environment that makes vacationing in Florida such a wonderful experience for families and provides our livelihood; it is only natural to do what one can to protect it.

Property owners have been asked to use energy saving florescent light bulbs, plant drought resistant landscaping, install electronic thermostats and over time, upgrade home appliances to higher energy saving units.

While vacationing, we are requesting that guests only run the dishwasher and laundry machines when they are at full capacity; turn off all lights when leaving the home and do not run the air conditioning units below 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

We believe making these small changes in daily behavior will go a long way to keep Florida clean and beautiful for years to come.
