Experience the Need for Speed in Orlando

Feeling the need for speed? There will be a brand-new thrill ride coming to Walt Disney World in mid-January, and it’s not what you expected. You won’t be flipping upside-down or surrounded by your favorite characters, but you will be sure to have an adrenaline rush.

The Richard Petty Driving Experience has been offering stock car drives at the Walt Disney World Speedway for years and now they will begin offering the once-in-a-lifetime chance to speed down the track in exotic supercars like Ferraris and Lamborghinis.

The Walt Disney World Speedway is a one mile, slightly banked tri-oval that has hosted both Indy Racing League and NASCAR Truck series events. The new Exotics Course is a hybrid track that utilizes the tri-oval’s backstretch and turn two before taking drivers into a newly designed interior section with fast right and left bank turns and street-course style barriers. This course allows drivers to rapidly accelerate while testing the deft handling and braking characteristics of some of the world’s most incredible supercars.  

The Exotic Driving Experience offers both the opportunity to be the driver or the passenger in a thrilling ride on the speedway. If you want to get behind the wheel you will have six laps around the one mile course with a professional driving instructor in the passenger seat providing coaching and feedback. If you prefer to be the passenger, you will experience the speed and performance of a world-class supercar in the hands of a professional driver.

The Speedway is expecting to start out with two Ferraris, two Lamborghinis, a Porsche 911 and an Audi R8. Other brands and models may be added in the future.

Prices for the “Thrill Rides” with a Petty instructor driving will start at $99. The actual driving experience will start at $199 for six laps, with an instructor in the passenger seat. Prices will vary depending on the car and all rides will be preceded by classroom instruction. For those of you who want to take the wheel, you won’t have to worry about shifting as all the cars will have automatic transmissions.

Take a trip to the Orlando Grand Prix, the premiere indoor go kart racing track. Speed-lovers can experience unique, electric Italian pro-karts that reach speeds up to 50 mph! 

Compete against friends, family, and other racing enthusiasts on one of two challenging tracks. The first track is a state-of-the-art European style Grand Prix Track built for speed racing. On the second track you will find a challenge you cannot find anywhere else and the phenomenon that has changed racing forever, drifting! This racing style is all about skill and technique as you speed through corners and avoid barriers and other karts.

During each race you can view your lap times from a projector screen located on the track and as every race ends you can see personal race results. The Grand Prix Track is available for kids and adults. Junior karts, reaching speeds of 25 mph, are provided to children as soon as they reach 48”.

Orlando Grand Prix welcomes walk-in racers 7 days a week or reservations can be made for corporate events, birthdays, and private parties.
