Florida Spirit has an Extra Pet-Friendly Week!

It has been an unusual week for Florida Spirit Vacation Homes as we have been helping more than just our guests. We have always had pet-friendly vacation homes and now this week we have extended that to a pet-friendly office!

On Monday, the owner of Florida Spirit was off to meet one of our homeowners at their home and just minutes after he left he came back into the office, but he wasn’t alone. Along with Brian came a friendly brown and white pitbull!

Explaining he almost hit the dog by Windsor Palms Resort, he had to bring him back to our office to keep him safe from the coming storm. Running back out the door, he ask the office staff to call animal control to see if anyone reported a missing dog or if they knew what we could do to help find his home.

Animal control didn’t want to take the pitbull for the night if we were able to hold onto him because of a virus that had just broken out in the kennel. Having a staff member that loves dogs and was willing to let the pitbull stay with him for the night, we told animal control we would try to find his owner and call them the following day.

Luckily, our staff member was able to take the dog to Pet Smart on his day off and found he had a chip in him telling us his name was Bo-Bo and his owners lived nearby. We have contacted them and are waiting for a reply so we can reunite them with Bo-Bo.

Our unusual pet-friendly week didn’t stop with Bo-Bo. Late on Tuesday night Florida Spirit received a frantic call from a guest exclaiming a wild street cat ran into their vacation home and wouldn’t leave! The following morning our staff called the home and the guest explained the cat was still in the home, locked in a bedroom and she was too afraid to open the door.

Not exactly sure what to expect, we sent a staff member to the home to try and help the cat find its way out and hopefully home.

When our staff arrived and open the bedroom door, the cat, which was really nothing more than a kitten, all but jumped into his arms, relieved to be out of the bedroom! Being far from wild, the kitten wanted nothing more than to be held and taken out of the home where she was trapped in a bedroom.

Helping the guest, our staff rescued the kitten from the home and being afraid to let her go back into the streets, brought her back to the Florida Spirit office.

When the cat was brought into the office we were all expecting a wild cat and weren’t sure why on earth the cat would be brought here! Immediately, we all realized this was nothing more than a scared little cat looking for its home.

One of our office staff went to the Publix across the street and bought food, milk, and some litter since the kitten was locked in a bedroom all night. Later that day, we made ‘lost’ signs and posted them in the community where she was found, hoping to get a call from her owners.

With no calls or any luck of finding the kitten’s home, Florida Spirit has been caring for her since Wednesday. She has made herself right at home at our desks and loves exploring the office.

Spirit, as we have decided to name her, will hang out with us as our office mascot until we are able to find a safe and loving home for her. If you are in the ChampionsGate area and would like to open your home to Spirit or know of a good home for her, please just give our office a call at 407-396-4441!
