It's a Winter Dog Day in Central Florida

Florida Spirit Vacation Homes welcomes dogs into some of our selected pet friendly homes and this weekend you and your four-legged family member have one more reason to visit Central Florida. The Bok Tower Gardens National Historic Landmark of Lake Wales invites leashed and friendly dogs to visit for a day of special events supporting a great cause.

This Saturday, January 14^th from 8am to 5pm, Bok Tower Gardens is transforming into the Bark Tower Gardens for a Winter Dog Day. The event will be donating half of the proceeds to help support the Humane Society of Polk County. Dog admission is $5 per dog and will include a doggie gift bag. Regular human admission rates apply and will be charged at the gate.

The day will consist of several fun events that both dogs and their owners can participate. In the day's contests, judges will select the cutest, most unusual, owner look-a-like, most talented and best kisser. There will be prizes provided for the top three winners in each category. Owners can browse different booths providing dog grooming tips, health, and safety and adoption information from 9am to noon. If you are looking for another member of the family, there will be some special friends who need a good home available. There will also be Ask a Vet, training specialists and doggie boutique items for sale.

Many of the Garden’s employees plan to bring the dogs they rescued to the event. Maggie and Punkin, poster-dogs for the event, will also be there to illustrate the importance of adopting pets from the Humane Society and other rescue shelters.

While you are there, don't forget to enjoy the beauty and splendor of the expansive gardens and exhibits throughout the grounds.
