SeaWorld Orlando Cares For Rescued Loggerhead Sea Turtle
Last week, a sub-adult loggerhead sea turtle was discovered along Florida’s east coast by a Melbourne resident. Melbourne’s Sea Turtle Preservation Society was quickly notified and the members helped transport the 168-pound sea turtle to SeaWorld Orlando for a health assessment after noticing the turtle’s unusual behavior and difficulty diving.
After various evaluations, SeaWorld’s experts and vets were excited to report there weren’t any major physical health problems with the sea turtle. However, they still plan to care and rehabilitate the turtle back to full strength and ultimately hope to release him back into the ocean.
Until the turtle’s health improves, SeaWorld plans to conduct behavioral studies that will assist the team in better understanding the environmental survival of the species.
Florida Spirit Vacation Homes applauds these notable and courageous effects by both SeaWorld Orlando and Sea Turtle Preservation Society for their collective team of experts and animal rescuers who saved this majestic sea turtle as well as the all of the sea life that has been rescued and released in the past.
