Florida Spirit Vacation homes now offsets 100% of the electrical power used by the management offices with renewable wind power as of August 2007.

When vacation homes are not in use, Florida Spirit is also turning down hot water heaters to save energy. All pool light switches are being upgraded to have timers, solar pool blankets are being placed on pools during the winter months, and Florida Spirit is ensuring that all trash is recycled. Property owners have been asked to assist Florida Spirit Vacation Homes with this effort by using energy saving fluorescent light bulbs and by planting drought resistant landscaping to conserve water.

Over time, the property owners will be upgrading their vacation home’s appliances to higher energy saving units. While vacationing, we are asking that guests only run the dishwasher and laundry machines when they are at full capacity. Guests will also turn off all lights when leaving the home and ensure that doors and windows are kept closed when the air conditioning is running.
